It was in 2014 that I came across a most intriguing book, “The Hidden Messages in Water” by Dr Masaru Emoto. This book showed pictures of frozen water crystals that had been exposed to words, pictures, music and prayers. There were also pictures of frozen water crystals from bodies of water that had a high interaction with humans (from urban areas) and waters that had far less human interaction (from the countryside or less accessible nature).
The pictures were astounding to me. The water that had been exposed to positive words, sounds and images had formed some of the most beautiful crystals I have ever seen whilst the ones exposed to negative words, images and harsh sounds were astonishingly ugly! The pictures in the book are accompanied by explanations of how he was able to photograph the water crystals and his philosophy/beliefs about water.
This got me thinking very deeply. Here’s a quote taken directly from his website –
” Dr. Emoto has shown that from beautiful words and music come beautiful crystals, and from mean-spirited, negative words come malformed and misshapen crystals. What is the significance? It becomes clear when we remember that the adult human body is approximately 70% water and infant bodies are about 90% water. We can be hurt emotionally, as the water can be changed, for the worse physically by negativity.”
I do believe this is all quite simple to understand – we are all made of water, what we see, say, listen to shows up as literal beauty or ugliness in our physical bodies. This knowledge prompted me to begin policing my external environment and internal thoughts. Music, movies, words (spoken or written) are all filtered. I want beauty in my water parts, it’s that simple 🙂 Water is such an important part of our existence on this earth; internally, externally, all around us.
How are you stewarding your inner waters?
Pictures, posters, music, spoken words, mugs, anything that has words on it, all of these have an impact on our inner waters.
Create beauty on the inside of you intentionally, it will flow out into the world, creating external beauty.
The world we live in today has an immense amount of negative imagery and wording directed covertly and/or overtly at Black people all over the world. If we are to believe Dr Emoto’s research, it becomes necessary, imperative I dare say, for Black people to surround themselves in their homes, places of work, places of recreation, communities and public spaces ( as far as it is possible for the individual and social groupings) , to deliberately surround themselves with identity affirming words and imagery. Black people must steward their inner waters in order to not only survive but thrive and overcome the wounds, obstacles, ridicule and altogether negative attributes ascribed to all people who have varying shades of melanin in their skins, Black people.
Steward your inner waters.
Pay attention to what you allow into your mind through the gates of your eyes.
Fight negativity by enclosing yourself in life and identify affirming words.
Fight to not only survive but THRIVE in the midst of adversity.
WORDS ARE LIFE, WORDS ARE DEATH. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH LIFE.
Shalom!
